The Fabelmans: I wasn’t too keen to watch it but am happy that I did. Spielberg based it on his own childhood and had to wait for his parents’ death to finally make it. It’s not easy to make a movie in which your mother’s infidelity is and the subsequent unraveling of the family is a topic. His childhood and his precocious fascination with film making was so beautifully done.
The New World: Terrence Malik’s movie was based on the story of Pocohontas. But the pace of narration was totally off for me. It failed to keep me engaged and after a point, I gave up.
Dhurandhar 2: Absolute trash. If the first was at least entertaining, the sequel was a total dud.
Kartavya: While the movie wasn’t great, its always nice to see such efforts by Bollywood. The real India is often glossed over but when you watch such movies and read the local news sections of the newspaper regularly, you understand that India is a terrifying place to live in.
The Agency (Season 1): I had seen the original French series (Le Bureau des légendes) on which this one is based. So most of the plot was familiar. Highly recommended for the complex plot.

Collateral: Tom Cruise is definitely the GOAT of Hollywood. The sheer range of characters that he’s performed in his career is sufficient to argue this. In Collateral, he’s a ruthless hitman who has no qualms in using a goofy taxi driver as a pawn to get his way.
The Return: Now this is how the characters of Odyssey must have dressed and behaved. The movie focuses only on the last segment of the epic in which Odysseus returns back to Ithaca, learns about the situation in his home and wreaks havoc among the suitors. No special effects and nothing over the top. Just sheer screen presence of Fiennes through out the movie.
Balan: The movie was well-directed but the whole story seemed too unrealistic to me. Why would a woman released with her son from prison decide to keep shifting jobs and cook up elaborate back-stories? Released convicts find it hard to rehabilitate. This alone could have been the focus of the movie.
